Remember to Renew Your Driver's License
Part of your contract for automobile insurance requires that any and all operators be authorized by law to drive.
Statutory Condition No. 4 States: The insured shall not drive or operate or permit any other person to drive or operate the automobile unless the insured or other person is authorized by law to drive or operate it.”
It may seem like a small thing but if you forget to renew your driver’s license you are technically no longer authorized by law to drive. In a recent court ruling coverage was denied because the driver had not renewed their license that expired a few months before the accident.
If you are involved in an accident with an expired license not only would your vehicle not be repaired but any injuries or lawsuits arising out of the accident would also not be covered. This could amount to millions of dollars in the case of serious injuries.
